The pupils of St. Mark’s Primary School in Hamilton were in fine voice last week as they welcomed His Lordship, Bishop Toal and Father Quinn to their new school to celebrate the Feast of St Mark.
Every pupil in the school participated in the Mass along with 90 members of the extended school community.
The singing club led many of the hymns and in particular should be congratulated for their beautiful performance of The Blessing.
Niamh Cox and Stefan Keaveny began the mass with a welcome and opening prayer. Bidding prayers were read perfectly by Alicia Larkin, Zuzanna Brzozowska, Hannah Bulloch, Dominic McGrory, Emily McMullan and Grace Quigley.
Members of the School Council did the offertory procession and all looked very smart. They were: Eva Morrison, Bobby Miller, Ryan Alexander, Rico Marini, Faryl Taylor and Eilidh Boyle.
A lovely vote of thanks was delivered by Kyle Scully.
As a token of thanks Head boy Kai Stewart and Head girl Hannah Tierney presented Bishop Toal with a special gift.
St. Mark’s Primary School Head Teacher, Caroline Campbell said: “We were delighted that Bishop Toal, and our own parish priest, Father Quinn, were able to come to dedicate a mass for our new school building and for the Feast of St. Mark.
I am extremely proud of all the pupils at the school who behaved impeccably and sang wonderfully throughout the service. I was pleased that so many parents and members of the wider school community took the time to come along and support our children and our school. The mass was truly uplifting and was a glorious event in the history of St. Mark’s Primary School.”
